Pretty good tips. Here’s some more.
Here’s a bunch of places to get some good traffic.
1. Go to http://www.linkreferral.com and sign up for the program. Put in your sites info and enter it in a category that is fits in. Your site will be listed in a category. When you login everyday they ask that you visit 30 sites enrolled, make 5 short reviews, and post 1 at the forum. If you do this you the site you entered will skyrocket to the top of the list temporarily. You are allowed to only do this once every 24 hours but it is very easy to stay on top. It takes me about 20 minutes a day and I get around 1000 visitors a month from it and you should get about 300 if you stick to it for the first month. There is certain ways to make it quicker. The site is running but not really taken care of, so I cheat a little. If you click on a bunch of sites right quick it’ll only count 1 or 2 so that doesn’t work, but you don’t want to waste your time with this so do what I do.
Click in one site, count 4 seconds then click on another, and do the same until I have reached the requirement. This will make it as quick as possible. For reviews, you need five but you want to do them as quick as possible. Make sure have more than one sentence in the review so that your review ranking will continue to grow. Lastly, make a simple comment at the forum or reply to anyone. Most of the time I go in the “other” forum category.
Now you are done for the day, but do it everyday. Do not tell people about link referral as well because this is your secret to getting traffic as per everything else. The site that I am talking about is kind of Mickey Mouse. Many of the sites enrolled are cheap FrontPage ones. It is not worth it to do this forever because it is a fair bit of work, but at least it adds more traffic to your site.
2. Go to http://www.stumbleupon.com , sign up, get the toolbar, and fill out a profile. When you see a page you like you press the thumbs up and give it a review with this toolbar. Review as many of your own pages in your site as well. Stumbleupon brings great traffic very quickly as well. Another important thing is that you can add friends with stumbleupon. If you go to “digital point forums” and in the “free Section” you’ll see a lot of posts where they exchange “friends” and stumbles. The more stumbles and friends you do and get, the more traffic you will get this is a very fast way to get some traffic in your site. Well, worth it.
3. Go to http://www.digg.com and sign up. This is an article site. After you are signed up you can create an article make a very nice one about your site, or a game in it. This will gather traffic as well as help google bring you in the search engine quicker. There are hundreds of article sites and all of them help your site get a better google pagerank, powerful backlink, and traffic. At the digital point free section you will be able to trade digs as well. Make sure you do not spam the dig with a bunch of articles or you may be banned adding 1 a week should help a lot.
4 . Directories. Find as many directories as you can and submit to them all. Make sure you submit your URL to the right category and have a good title and description. Putting in something like “the arcade” as the title will not help you. Google reads these directories.
5. Look for other arcades that you can link exchange with. They are easy to find and usually they have a setup where you can ask. Eventually you will be probably selling links on your site like me, but for now you are looking for stable traffic so that organic traffic will follow
6. If you are running a video site or an arcade than this is a route you should defiantly take. Affiliate traffic at http://www.moregamers.com is an excellent way to increase traffic. A lot of arcades have setup affiliated traffic. If you take a look at my site at http://www.echoarcade.com you’ll see that there is a small flashing square box which is an advertisement. I don’t get money for people who click on that. I get traffic back. I signed up at an affiliate site and here’s how it works. Loads of entertainment sites are involved and if someone clicks on that box from my site it’ll go to one of those sites. Because I gave a click my own ad will show up at some other affiliated site automatically and I will get a click back into my site. This turns out pretty good because it gives you a chance to double up on traffic. Some arcades are stupid and they add 4 of those boxes but those boxes are annoying and really look dumb so I stayed at just one. Your setup with this affiliate and I made the graphic banner for it so now you have that to help as well. It’s a win for a win situation with these. You get a visitor that may have clicked on your adsense who tracks back and clicks on this affiliate and you got another new visitor. If you give them enough clicks in a day they will return up to 40 times the amount of visitors. Last month I had a really good day and it got 60 clicks out and soon I found out that the next 2 days were awesome because I got 460 visitors back. If you only give them a small amount them most likely you’ll only get half as much back, though. It’s still worth it.
7. tell your friends, make posters for billboards, call relatives, etc. Anything and everything you can do to get the place to be active. Eventually you won’t need to spend so much time promoting it, but for now you gotta push the envelop.
All of this should get you 1000’s of visitors

You have many good points here for generating some free traffic. SEO can be the biggest generation of traffic if done correctly. Article writing is a good tip. I think people should concentrate more on one way links than reciprocal links, only because google tells us in their guidelines that they will be discounted in value or even penalized. Forums are always a good place to start, not only to build some links but they are a great source for free information.
